The recipe:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
6 Tablespoons butter or margarine (don't use Crisco shortening - the dough gets too soft and doesn't cut into shapes well)
1/3 cup shortening (oil)
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Stir together flour, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Beat butter and shortening for 30 seconds; add sugar and beat till fluffy. Add egg, milk, and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating till well combined. Cover and chill at least 3 hours. Working with 1/2 the dough at a time, on a lightly floured surface roll to 1/8" thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 minutes or till done. Makes 36 to 48 2" and 3" cookies.
