Also, I finished up a revision of my biography about Nancy Grace Roman and began submitting it to agents.
While awaiting the final comments from Gary about the last pages of my book, my sister and I scheduled a mini-cruise to the Bahamas as our yearly "sister trip." I looked forward to that immensely and we had a fantastic getaway.
I had barely returned home when we needed to visit my father-in-law in Florida, whose health is failing. I decided to drive and pick up my sister on the way down so that we might spend more time together. It actually turned into a fun trip, spending spare time searching thrift shops for particular furniture pieces.
When I returned home I learned in an extremely roundabout way that a dear high school friend had suddenly died. Another girlfriend and I spent a lot of time trying to get information about the cause and when a service for her might be planned. How incredibly draining!
Without any more news, no obituary, and assuming the family had decided not to hold any sort of service, we were off to a vacation my husband had planned to take when we first married. It was a cruise around the British Isles. I especially wanted to see Scotland and do some genealogy research. It was a fabulous trip. Perhaps I'll write about it another time.
When we returned, I learned the memorial for my friend had finally been planned and I made quick plans to attend the service in Connecticut. And the husband and I made another trip down to see the father-in-law.
Now here I am. Summer is over. I haven't written since April and haven't written a blog since last December.
But I do have a plan.
I have tons to catch up on after this flurry of activity and traveling, but I plan to spend the majority of my regular writing time SUBMITTING a number of projects that are ready-to-go.
So, wish me luck. I plan to find every small press that might possibly accept my manuscripts. And submit. And submit. I may even be inspired to go on Twitter and participate in a couple pitch contests. We'll see. This will be the autumn of submissions.
